THE MEETING WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAYED ARRIVAL OF PRESIDENT JIM TORCIVIA. MEETING STARTS @ 7:20pm. THE PLEDGE WAS DONE EARLIER.
MINUTES- WAIVED
TREASURERS REPORT- WAIVED
FISH- JIM M. ASKS, DID STREAM DIVERSION CAUSED BY STORMS DIVERTING THE PINEKILL, FLOOD THE YANKEE LAKE AREA. DESPERATE EFFORTS TO SAVE THE AREA NEED TO BE RESEARCHED,THE STREAM HAS DISSAPEARED. WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS WITH DEC PERSONNEL. THERE WILL BE A DEC FISH STOCKING POLICY MEETING IN NEW PALTZ THIS OCTOBER. WHY ARE THEY DISCUSSING POLICY CHANGES AT A PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING? WHAT CHANGES ARE UNDER CONSIDERATION? LOW WATER HAS BEEN OBSERVED IN THE WOODBURY CREEK. THERE IS A LAWSUIT TO CONSIDER THE WATER TAKEN BY HIGHLAND STONE FOR IT'S OPERATIONS. IS THIS PART OF THE REASON FOR THE LOW WATER IN THE WOODBURY IN ADDITION TO VERY LITTLE RAINFALL IN THE LATE SUMMER? THERE WILL BE A FREE FISHING DAY SAT. OCTOBER 7 @ HAVERSTRAW BAY.
GAME- STERLING FOREST STOCKING BEGAN W/O OCTOBER 3. STEWART STOCKING WILL BEGIN W/O OCTOBER 8, THEN 100 BIRDS PER WEEK FOR THE NEXT 5 WEEKS PLUS QUAIL. SEE THE WEBSITE FOR PARKING AREAS BEING STOCKED. GEORGE ROGERO SUGGESTS SDVISING CAUTIONDUE TO THESE AREAS BEING MULTI USE AREAS. BE CIVIL AND COURTEOUS WHEN MEETING OTHER THAN HUNTERS.
YOUTH DAY HUNT- RON SANDROFF GAVE A REPORT OF THE DAY, AND HANDED IN AN ACCOUNTING TO TREASURER MIKE BURKE. WE RAISED $400 FROM MEMBER CLUBS AND HAVE A SIGN UP SHEET FOR NEXT YEAR TO TRACK ATTENDEES. APPROXIMATELY 30 YOUNG HUNTERS SHOWED UP AND WERE GIVEN GOODY BAGS AND FED. WE ALSO HAD AN IMPRESSIVE NUMBER OF ADULTS SHOW UP TO HELP. MANY THANKS TO JIM TORCIVIA'S COOKING CREW FOR THE COOKING AND THE VENISON, AND TO JOE GATT OF THE BETHLEHEM CLUB FOR BRINGING HIS DOGS.
ANNUAL DINNER- WE HAD 233 ATTENDEES AT THIS YEARS AFFAIR. KUHLS ONLY CHARGED US FOR 215. THE FIREARMS RAFFLES WERE A GREAT SUCCESS. PRES. JIM T. HAD WANTED TO SEE A NRA PRESENCE AT THE DINNER. CARMEN MENTIONED THAT HE AND MIKE BURKE ARE ON THE FRIENDS OF THE NRA COMMITTEE AND WERE IN ATTENDANCE. IT WAS LEARNED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A CONFLICT WITH THE SULLIVAN COUNTY FNRA DINNER THE SAME NIGHT. 55 VETS WERE THERE THAT NIGHT AND SEVERAL PROMINENT COUNTY POLITICIANS WERE IN ATTENDANCE. EVERYONE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME FOR THE NIGHT.
STERLING FOREST- PATHS HAVE BEEN CUT IN THE FIELDS AND THE STOCKING HAS BEGUN THERE.
SPARC- SANDRA NEEDS MEMBERS TO ATTEND THE STEWART USE MEETING COMING UP IN MAYBROOK. A STRONG PRESENCE IS NECESSARY TO INSURE OUR RIGHTS THERE ARE PROTECTED. SHE IS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE PROJECT IN THE TOWN OF MONTGOMERY BY THE GALAXY CO. DEPENDING ON THE PROJECT IMPLICATIONS WE CAN CALL FOR A ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT STUDY. THE AGREEMENT THAT WAS REACHED FOR STEWART FOREST ALSO INCLUDES A 500' BUFFER BETWEEN THE FOREST AND ANY NEW PROJECTS/CONSTRUCTION.
RAFFLE TICKETS- PAUL, MIKE,JIM T. AND JIM R. SOLD TICKETS AT THE GUN SHOW SEPT.9/10 IN MIDDLETOWN AND DID RATHER WELL.SO FAR APPROX. $3360. HAS BEEN BANKED FOR TICKET SALES. $2400. IS DUE FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE GUNS AND CROSSBOW. DISCUSSION ENSUED ABOUT WHETHER WE CAN SELL TICKETS OUTSIDE THE STATE. THE CONCLUSION WAS THATWE PROBABLY COULD AS LONG AS WE APPLY FOR AND PAY FOR A PERMIT IN THAT STATE. WE SHOULD CHECK IF WE DECIDE TO DO SO.
LEGIS/GEORGE ROGERO- ELECTIONS ARE NOVEMBER 7. PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE. D.C. HAS DECIDED NOT PURSUE THEIR CCW CASE TO THE SUPREME COURT. THE FEAR WAS THEY WOULD LOSE, AND IT COULD HAVE NATIONAL CONSEQUENCES WITH SHALL ISSUE/MAY ISSUE CASES NATIONWIDE(CALIFIRNIA,NEW YORK & CONNECTICUT). THERE ARE 3 PROPOSITIONS ON THE BACK OF THE BALLOT THIS YEAR.1/A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION 2/PUBLIC OFFICIAL FORFITURE OF PENSION IF CONVICTED OF A FELONY 3/ AN ADIRONDACK PARK EASEMENT LAND BANK OF 250 ACRES FOR PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ALREADY PERMITTED. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK AND VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE. CONTRARY TO RUMOR, IF YOU DO NOT VOTE, IT WILL NOT COUNT EITHER WAY. PISTOL APPLICATIONS ARE AT 1734 SO FAR THIS YEAR, ON TRACK TO EXCEED LAST YEARS NUMBER. FINGER PRINTING IS OUT TO 6 WEEKS.
OLD BUSINESS- OC TRAPPERS CAMP AT DEC CAMP DEBRUCE HAD TO BE RELOCATED, DUE TO MIS-COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE DEC AND SCHEDULING. WE NEED TO IMPROVE COMMIUNICATION WITH THE DEC. POSSIBLY A DEC LIASON. IT WAS ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE DAY OF THE YOUTH HUNT SEPT. 23 THERE WERE ROCK TAVERN NAVDA DOG TRIALS AT STEWART. THE TRIALS WERE LISTED AT THE KIOSKS WHERE THERE ARE MONTHLY AGENDAS. THE YOUTH HUNT WHICH WAS A STATEWIDE EVENT WAS NOT ON THE CALENDAR.
NYSRPA- THE ANNUAL MEETING IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULE FOR PORT JERVIS ONCE AGAIN IN 2018 ON MAY 19. ALL THAT REMAINS IS APPROVAL FROM PORT JERVIS. VENDOR PRICES ARE AGAIN PLANNED TO BE $30. PER SPOT. BILL WAS ASKED TO SUPPLY FLYERS ASAP SO WE CAN HAND THEM OUT AT GUN SHOWS WHEN WE SELL RAFFLE TICKETS.
OCFNRA- RON SANDROFF EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS FROM THE MONEY RAISED BY FNRA DINNERS AND RAFFLES AND AUCTIONS. 2015-2016 SHOWS JUST UNDER $25,000.00 SPENT ON UPGRADES TO WEAPONS SYSTEMS IN NEW YORK. TASERS,PISTOLS, SHOTGUNS ETC. DIANA AND JAY RUSNOCK FROM THE NRA JUSTIFIED THIS BY CLAIMING THEY WERE COMMUNITY PROJECTS. CARMEN SAID THAT UNLESS LOCAL CLUBS SUBMITTED MORE GRANT APPLICATIONS THAT WAS WHERE THE MONEY WENT. CARMEN AND DIANA HAVE ON MANY OCCASSIONS IMPLORED FEDERATION CLUBS TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS. RON SAID HE OBJECTED TO HOW THE MONEY WAS SPENT NOT WHERE GEOGRAPHICALLY. MAYBE THE DEFENITION OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS WAS TOO BROAD.
OLD BUSINESS- ORAL ARGUEMENTS WILL BE MADE BY PALOMA COPANNA(A PROMINENT NY BASED 2nd. AMEN LAWYER) REGARDING THE CO-MINGLING OF NICS AND NO FLY LIST DATA BASES. DONATIONS ARE NEEDED TO TAKE THIS CASE
FORWARD. THE FEDERATION VOTED AND APPROVED A $100. DONATION.
NEW BUSINESS- SEVERAL MEMBERS WERE CONTACTED BY THE TIMES HERALD RECORD IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE LAS VEGAS SHOOTINGS WANTING TO KNOW”HOW DO WE CURB GUN VIOLENCE”. VARIOUS ANSWERS PROFERRED. NOT ENOUGH EMPHASIS ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. MANY MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN IN NEW YORK BEING THE MOST PROMINENT.

AS I RESIGN MY POST AS REPRESENTATIVE TO THE FEDERATION EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ANY ONE INTERESTED IN TAKING MY PLACE SHOULD CONTACT PRESIDENT ANTHONY SORRENTINO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE NEXT FEDERATION MEETING IS NOVEMBER 2 2017. MEETING ARE THE FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH @ 7:00pm AND CAN TAKE PLACE AT THE SPONSORING CLUB OR HOSTING CLUBS BLACK ROCK FISH AND GAME OR MONROE CHESTER SPORTSMANS CLUB.
