WESTCHESTER GUN SHOW LAW

Postby RonTheDon » Fri Feb 10, 2017 11:47 pm

TO: ALL W.C.F.O.A. & NYSRPA MEMBERS

SUBJECT: IT’S TIME TO GIVE DEMOCRAT LEGISLATORS SOME OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE

Westchester Legislators have a Legislative Committee meeting mid-day before regular Legislative Board Meetings.
The “Ban The Gun Show” Act was passed on a 9-to-8 vote along party lines, with all 9 Democrat Legislators voting
to pass the Ban. County Executive Rob Astorino vetoed the measure, and the prior vote indicated that the Democrats
would not be able to override Astorino’s veto.

The last Board Meeting on February 6, 2017, was to have a vote for the Republican alternative to the Ban The Gun Show Act,
which only sought to enter into law a set of standards that would assure that gun shows in Westchester would all be held
under these regulations. It was a fair proposal.

On February 6, at the time that the Committee Meeting was being held, anti-gun groups had a phone-fax-email blast sent to the
Republican members of the Board. This interfered with the Republicans’ work. At the Board Meeting later that day The Republican
proposal was sent back to committee by the Chairman of the County Board. Apparently the Democrats intend to commandeer the
Republican proposal and add anti-gun provisions to it. This would require another veto by Rob Astorino.

IT IS NOW TIME TO GIVE THE DEMOCRATS A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE BY USING
THE EXACT SAME PROCEDURE AGAINST THEM AS THEY USED AGAINST THE REPUBLICANS.

Below are the NINE Democrat Legislators, along with their office phone numbers, their email addresses and the
main fax number. WE NEED ALL MEMBERS AND GUN OWNERS TO CALL, FAX AND EMAIL THESE
DEMOCRAT LEGISLATORS ON MONDAY, FEB. 13. DEMAND A CALL BACK FROM THESE LEGISLATORS.

Here are some talking points:

1) I want the gun show at the County Center. It is a lawful enterprise and is tightly controlled. To deny it is
blatant discrimination. If Westchester is so inclusive and welcoming, why are gun owners treated like second
class citizens or criminals?

2) The gun show is one of the last sources for lawful gun owners to have access to their legal products. Many
small gun dealers have been driven out of business by arbitrary zoning restrictions.

3) Gun shows are family affairs. Many parents bring their children to the shows.

4) Banning shows at the County Center is a restriction of freedom of assembly. It is also selective enforcement.

5) The Board should wait until the several similar State and Federal lawsuits are adjudicated before even
considering any gun show related issues. Otherwise the county could be exposed to litigation.

AS YOU CALL, FAX AND EMAIL APPLY AS MUCH PRESSURE TO THE DEMOCRATS AS YOU CAN.
MAKE A SEPARATE CALL FOR EACH OF THE TALKING POINTS. REMEMBER, THE POINT IS TO GIVE
THE DEMOCRATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY GAVE THE REPUBLICANS.
LET’S BLITZ THEM AND SHOW THEM THAT GUN OWNERS INTEND TO FIGHT THEIR PLANS.
ENLIST EVERY GUN OWNER YOU KNOW. PASS THIS EMAIL ON TO ALL CONTACTS.

START THE ACTIVITY AT NOON, MONDAY, FEB. 13
